Gary Borjesson

President of the Board. Before returning to his native Oregon in 2012, Gary lived in Annapolis, MD, where he was a college teacher. Now he’s a psychotherapist in private practice. He’s grateful to be living in the Greensprings with his wife and dog, to be part of the wonderful community here, and to help safeguard it by serving on the board of FOG. He currently serves as the President of the board.

Gail Colbern

After a career in biomedical science and cancer research, Gail retired to her country roots, to enjoy the fresh air and mountain life of the Greensprings. Horses and my veterinary experience have been a great adjunct to this life. Service with FOG allows her to ensure and improve our rural way of life.

Heidi Gehman

Secretary of the Board. Heidi spent her senior fall semester of college at the Oregon Extension in Lincoln on the Greensprings in 1987, and then worked for wilderness activist Dave Willis, also based in Lincoln, in the summers of 1988 and 1989. After spending time in Chicago, Princeton, and then 15 years in Hartford, CT, she returned to Lincoln in 2011 to co-lead the Oregon Extension college program. She now works in senior and disability services, and loves spending time hiking the Greensprings and all over southern Oregon. She is married to Joseph Terino and has two sons, Henry and William, ages 20 and 16.

Suzi Given

Suzi is a community volunteer, wife of Bob Given, mother of two sons, a grandmother of 4, and a 27-year resident of Greensprings. A FOG Board member since early 1990’s, she is also a founding member of Friends of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.

Alan Hart-McArthur

Alan is a lifelong Oregonian with family roots stretching back to Rickreall in the 1840s, now reviving an 1880s homestead on lower Tyler Creek Road since 2014. After a career running a custom woodworking business in Portland, Alan is enjoying this latest restoration project with his wife Trisha, daughter Aiyana Green, son-in-law Stuart Green and grand-daughter Twila Green. They love their Greensprings rural life with chickens, llamas and two dwarf goats, and the great access to our mountains and lakes, plus the outstanding cultural benefits offered in the Rogue Valley. It’s a joy to be here, putting roots in the ground!

Ty.jpg

Ty Hisatomi

Treasurer of the Board. Ty first arrived in Southern Oregon in 1977 and immediately fell in love with its people, outdoor opportunities, bio-diversity and landscape.  He has been a resident of the Greensprings for the past 20 years.  A retired nonprofit director, he continues to serve as a volunteer with several community-based charitable groups in the Rogue Valley.  Whenever he can he enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking and fishing.  He and his best friend and wife, Lauren live on 30 acres of poison oak with a great view.

Jim Crary

Jim and his wife, Dianna, moved to the Greensprings in June of 2006 from Alaska. Jim retired in 2013 from BP and loves working on his land pruning, thinning, and burning slash (when that is possible). Jim has also served on the boards of the Greensprings Fire and Rescue and the Greensprings Rural Fire Department.

Juliet Grable

Juliet moved to Oregon from Texas in 2000. She is a full-time freelance writer and has served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Juliet loves living in the Greensprings with her husband Brint and menagerie of critters.

Matt Watson

Matt is recently retired after 30 years of working for federal and private land management organizations in Southern Oregon and Northern California. His primary tasks during these years were wildland fire management, fuels management, and wildlife.

Matt and his wife, Jen moved to The Rogue Valley in 1991, and perhaps as foreshadowing, were married at the Pinehurst Inn that Fall. In 2004 they left their farm in the valley and moved “up over the hill” with their two kids and various other critters to their place on Corral Creek.

Current pursuits include continued stewardship of our mountain property and travel to western states when they are not burning, for a change.

Sally Nowland

Sally is a longtime resident of the Greensprings. She has been an RN for 40 years. While living in Hawaii, she worked as a nurse on helicopter-medivac flights. She is retired now, with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
